Hostinger and Cloudways solve the same problem at two different stages. Hostinger is low-cost hosting that includes almost everything a new site needs. Cloudways is managed cloud hosting that costs more and gives each site its own server resources. We run sites on both: WealthyWorld.ai is hosted on Cloudways, and another of our sites runs on Hostinger.
This comparison uses the prices and plan details shown on each company’s pricing page in October 2026. Both change their offers often, so confirm the numbers before you pay.
Quick answer
- Starting your first site on a small budget: Hostinger. The price is low, and the domain and mailboxes are included for the first year.
- A site that already earns money or gets traffic spikes: Cloudways. You pay monthly, you can resize the server, and performance is more predictable.

Hostinger: what you get
Hostinger’s three website plans are Premium, a mid-tier unlimited plan and Cloud Startup. At the time of writing they are listed at $2.99, $3.99 and $7.99 per month on a 48-month term. All plans are paid upfront, so the Premium plan costs $143.52 for four years. After the first term they renew at $10.99, $16.99 and $25.99 per month.
Every plan includes a custom domain for the first year, SSL certificates, a CDN, WordPress installation and backups (weekly on Premium, daily on the higher plans). Premium comes with 20 GB of storage and allows three websites.
Strengths: the lowest total cost for the first years, and one account covers domain, hosting and email.
Weaknesses: the low price requires a long upfront commitment, and the renewal price is several times higher. On shared plans your site shares server resources with other customers, which can slow it under heavy load.
Cloudways: what you get
Cloudways Flexible lets you pick a cloud provider and a server size. The servers shown on its pricing page are Micro at $14/month (1 GB RAM, 25 GB storage), Small at $28 (2 GB), Medium at $54 (4 GB) and Large at $99 (8 GB). Billing is hourly, so you can scale up for a busy period and back down afterwards. Prices exclude taxes, and offsite backup storage is charged per GB.
Each server can host as many sites as its resources allow. Plans include a firewall, staging and cloning, free migration and caching tools such as Object Cache Pro and Redis.
Strengths: dedicated resources, no long contract, and the ability to resize a server in a few clicks.
Weaknesses: the entry price is several times Hostinger’s. You need to buy a domain elsewhere and arrange email separately. The control panel assumes some technical comfort.
Cost over the first two years
A single small site on Hostinger Premium costs $143.52 upfront and is covered for four years. The same site on the Cloudways Micro server costs about $336 over two years, plus a domain. Cloudways becomes better value when you host several sites on one server, or when slow pages are costing you sales.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Hostinger if this is your first site, your budget is tight and you want domain, email and hosting in one place. See Hostinger plans.
- Choose Cloudways if your site already has steady traffic, runs a store, or you manage several sites and want them on one server you control. See Cloudways plans.
A common path is to start on Hostinger and move to Cloudways when traffic grows. Both companies offer free migration, so the move does not have to be done by hand.

Frequently asked questions
Is Cloudways faster than Hostinger?
A Cloudways server gives your sites dedicated resources, which makes performance more consistent under load. For a small site with little traffic, the difference is often hard to notice.
Can I pay monthly on Hostinger?
The advertised low prices apply to long terms paid upfront. Shorter terms cost more per month. Check the term selector on the pricing page.
Does Cloudways include a domain?
No. You register the domain with a registrar and point it at your Cloudways server.
